Description
You’ve been thinking of a nose that complements your eyes, cheeks, chin and other facial features? Following a nose job procedure, a rhinoplasty patient can enjoy a nose that leads to a balanced facial appearance, resulting in increased self-confidence. Cosmetic surgery of the nose is beneficial to men and women who wish to improve the shape of their nose and in some cases to improve their breathing.

About the procedure

What is Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)? Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) or Nose Tip Surgery is cosmetic surgery to reshape the nose. It is one of the most common of all cosmetic plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty surgery can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems. Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) encompasses surgery on both the soft and hard (bone) parts of your nose. It is performed under general anaesthetic and takes approximately 2 hours. Dissolvable stitches are used inside the nose on completion, thus avoiding the need for removal after healing. Reasons for getting Rhinoplasty: Rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won’t necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with our consultant. The best candidates for Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) are people who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you’re physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate. By re-modelling the bones and cartilage of the nose, we can achieve a subtle new shape that harmonises perfectly with the rest of the face. At the consultation, the rhinoplasty surgeon takes into account the overall look of the nose from all angles, especially the relationship between nose, forehead and chin.

Before, during & after

Before surgery: No special preparation is necessary for Rhinoplasty (Nose Job). - The nose cannot be operated on while any inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane is present. - Pharmaceuticals containing acetylsalicylic acid (Acylpirin, Aspirin, and Anopyrin etc.) should not be used for 3 weeks before the Nose cosmetic surgery, as they decrease the clotting time of blood.
Recovery: At the end of the Rhinoplasty operation, a plaster splint is put on the nose, which remains there for 10–14 days. If it becomes loose as a result of reduced swelling, it is usually exchanged for a new one after a week. Later on, a cotton dressing is introduced into the nasal nostrils (strips of greased muslin), which is removed on the second day after the operation. While the cotton dressing is in place, breathing through the nose is impossible. After 10–14 days the plaster splint is taken off although it is necessary to put it back on at night for at least another 14 nights so that the shape of the operated nose is not impaired and so that you cannot accidentally damage your nose whilst sleeping. Our rhinoplasty surgeons recommend avoiding direct sunlight for at least 8 weeks after the procedure. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) How will I feel after Rhinoplasty surgery? - You will probably feel tired and sleepy, particularly during the first three days after the Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) operation. You will be given some painkillers and tablets to reduce the swelling. The rhinoplasty surgeon might also prescribe antibiotics as a prevention aginst possible infections. Is the recovery after rhinoplasty painful? - Many of our clients report they feel little or no pain after Rhinoplasty (Nose Job), however, there will be some discomfort during the first 24 hours due to the cotton dressing placed inside your nostrils which mean you have to breath through your mouth. Once the dressings are removed you are likely to feel some swelling and discomfort, and perhaps some numbness in the area where surgery has been performed. What are the possible risks and complications of rhinoplasty? - The specific risks and the suitability of a Rhinoplasty for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.
